Why NT/NB Scan is Crucial

First Trimester Milestones

Performed precisely between 11 to 14 weeks, this scan is your first major screening for chromosomal abnormalities and structural development.

Nuchal Translucency (NT)

  • Measures fluid at back of baby's neck
  • Screens for Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21)
  • Screens for Edwards & Patau Syndromes

Nasal Bone (NB) Check

  • Checks presence of the nasal bone
  • Absence can indicate chromosomal risks
  • Increases overall screening accuracy

Early Structural Anatomy

  • Verifies development of skull and brain
  • Checks stomach, bladder, and spine
  • Ensures all 4 limbs are present & developing

Dating & Multiples Check

  • Crown-Rump Length (CRL) for exact due date
  • Determines if carrying twins or multiples
  • Checks chorionicity (shared placenta in twins)
